“if you want a job done properly…………” Maple are a well known Aberdeen band, with a good reputation for solid live performances, having played more gigs in the fair city than Gordon Ramsay’s had hot dinners.
In their time they’ve played at T-In-The-Park, In The City, live radio sessions for BBC Radio, and various other showcase events, however, what you hold in your hand is their first ever album release.
So what took them so long?
Well - as concisely as I can put it – a production label came on the scene a few years ago and funded the recording of what was to be Maple’s debut album. However, financial problems arose and various constraints were encountered during the recording process, weeks turned to months, months turned many more months, and eventually, well over a year from when the project was started, the label went under, leaving Maple with nothing to show for all their work. Where some bands might have given up, Scott decided to take matters into his own hands, and read some books and bought some microphones.
The result of these efforts is ‘Hi-Fi Audio Maintenance’, an album recorded in flats, houses, (and a dance studio!) in Aberdeen.
